Default Spark plug gap .060 or other?

I was told by a guy at TEA that does the dyno tunes on the LS1 cars to use NGK TR55 spark plugs and MSD wires, before I got my tuned. He said to gap them at .045. Have any of you guys gapped yours at .045 and if so why not gap them at .060 like in the manual? I'm just wondering what the smaller gap does possitive for the engine before I install new plugs. Thanks for any help.

The more power you make the smaller the gap needs to to be. If you did heads and cam a .048 should be good. If you are more stock with just bolt ons the .055 is better.

NGK TR5 ( not the 55's ) at .045.

The NGK55's come at 55, the TR5 at 39. Same plug.

Patman says it's better to bend a little than pull the 55 gap down to 45.
