You can get an overdrive alternator pulley. If you have $200 to spend I think I would go ahead and get it, however I wouldn't spend it unless you just have it to spend. You wouldn't gain a whole lot of power being that you would have the overdrive alt. pulley, but, you will increase the throttle response by quite a bit. I'd say 5rwhp, but worth it.

Still noticible throttle response increase here after pulley install w/ overdriven alternator...and magically fixed my fuel trim problem I was having at the time so that was an added bonus with my install. Have a similar wattage output with my stereo, and no charging issues.

IMO it was a worthwhile install

I would also go underdrive crank and overdrive alt, just to make sure you don't have charging issues.

if you had a system, or something else that was going to try to pull more amps then you could charge, then yes it would be worthwhile investment IMHO. I think the mod is also recommended to A4 guys system or not.

I agree with the first part of your staement, but most A4's s houldn't require an alt overdrive pulley. I for one don't have an alt OD pulley and have zero problems, but the idle has been raised slightly for the cam.

I will definitely concede this one to you as I don't know a whole lot about automatics

I just thought I had heard that a lot of people ran the o/d alt pulley with the A4. My bad.

But the fact that your idle has been raised may help out with the charging to the point where you don't need the extra pulley.

FYI: LS1 speed (larry) told me that they normally install the underdrive crank pulley only and have no problems.

I agree. I've never heard of anyone having any problems with just the crank pulley.
