Default Volant Cold Air Induction Question

Alright, I know this thread has probably been killed about a million times...BUT...I was thinking, everyone has lids and I was searching for something different as for induction for my WS.6. Anyway I was looking around and found the Volant Cold Air kit from LMPerformance. Now, if I were to get this kit and remove the grilles on the WS.6 hood wouldn't this create MORE airflow directly into the cone filters as compared to it coming in and going down into the lid? Doesn't that make more sense...atleast it seems like it would to me. Anyone with this kit PLEASE care to chime in. Thanks!

Thumbs up

buy it. You won't regret it. Lids don't even come close to delivering the amount of air a volant does. Plus it makes a nice sucking sound when you get on it.

I have a Superhawk hood so my hoods a little different ,but it really does breathe good like said above. You can hear more swoosh( is that a word ) when you get on it, its cool when you shut it down too, you hear it gasp for more air. I'm happy with it

Isn't the Volant designed for the non-SS/non-WS6 hoods? I don't think it seals with any other hood... I just checked my Volant on my ram air hood, and it only seals the back third of the box.

I've got the volant and have had it on my car for over a year. I love it and would recommend it. Good straight shot of air flow specially with the hood bafles removed

The good ol chewing gum test . Stuck a few pieces a few inches apart all around. It acctually rests on it right before it latches in. I have to give it a little extra push. That and it has made a contact mark on the underside from were the rubber meets the hood. I think since a volant is an upgrade option for a z29, they took it's design into account when they made the mold for the hood.

so it would flow better than a lid with the ws.6 model right? Esp. with the baffles removed...anyone got any dyno numbers of a lid over a volant intake???
