Why is my magnaflow catback not much louder than stock??
I have an 00WS6 nearly stock. I installed the magnaflow catback on my car and it does not seem much louder than the stock catback. Is this true for most people. Or does it need to break in or something.
Thanks

if you want it louder get a cutout
if you want it a lot louder get headers
if you really want it loud get a cutout and headers

do you have any idea how much louder without ORY/headers or cutout.
Im telling you its really quiet. Disappointing quit if you follow me. I just got the car about 3 weeks ago. im just doing some things before i get to the ORY and headers.
B&M ripper
magnaflow
lid/filder
Z06s with 295s on back
its getting there. **** costs a lot of money
next step is kooks, then try to find out a way around my stupid cats. We are tested in my county.

Get LT Headers. The only way for nice sound. Just put my magnaflow on it it sounds great compared to my old SLP loud mouth. That exaust was just too Loud, it was like running open headers. I prefer the quiet magnaflow when just crusing. When you get on it though it gets Damn loud!

That's the nature of the magnaflow catback, it's a quiet system. It's nice to run something quiet if you've got some exhaust work done (long tubes, no cats), plus a cam too. This catback will make the exhaust tone tolerable with the mentioned mods. On a car with the stock manifolds and cats still on, it will be a very quiet system.

SLP loud mouth is more horsepower just for catback. If you get a y-pipe and headers you would want a exhaust with back pressure so you need a mufler. With SLP Loudmouth it has no muffler. All depends

my brother's got the magnaflow with no other exhaust work done and it has a tame idle and opens up pretty nicely under WOT. Have you heard your car drive by with someone else driving it? The exhaust makes little to no interior resonance so it may be deceivingly quiet until you hear it from the outside.

Just buy a cutout (30.00) and get it installed (another 30.00) and you can have it however you want. That's what I did, sometimes the cutout gets to be a bit much and I cap it and am happy again. BTW, I also have the Magnaflow.

hmmm. usually all after market catbacks are louder with the m6 just due to being able to ride the lower gears longer at higher rpms longer than the a4 shifting at low rpms.

give it a few months and it will get a bit louder. I too was disapointed with it espically when people mentioned how good it was.. Well after a few months(maybe shorter if you drive alot) it got a bit louder..Idle is still pretty mellow(close to stock) but once you get moving any rpm is louder and forget about wot, blows the stock muffler away... If you really want to know how loud it is with you driving it find a bridge/overpass and right before you go under it slap it in first and nail the gass. You will then know how loud it is..

Magnaflow gets louder as the resin/matting/fibers inside melt/burn/srink.
I had a loudmouth and manifolds/cats right off the bat because i wanted to be noticed... it worked... but to me it just sounded nasty (in a bad way) with all that rasp. Then came the headers and the loudmouth had to go after 2 weeks. In went the magnaflow and all was fine. Then i went back to stock manifolds and cats and couldn't be happier with the sweet tone.
