Default Ok so the XR-1s are twice as quiet as Dynomax bullets.

I replaced my 12 in bullets today with Borla XR-1s, part number 40085, and they are twice as quiet as my dynomaxes were. I was under the assumption that they would be just as loud but be more metallic sounding but they are not as loud and have hardly any metallic sound to them. Once I get on it though it sounds like the world is coming to an end and the car feels quicker to me with them on, which doesnt make sense. Anyway I like the WOT sound but not too pleased with the idle sound. Heres a before and after of the car.......

With Borla XR-1s------------> http://necrocannibal.mine.nu/Power%2...ture%20320.mpg

Any opinions on what you guys think??

Even without any packing, seems like it would still sound different once the internals get a nice coating of carbon.

Borla mufflers do have packing.....stainless steel wool to be exact. From personal experience, Borlas tend to get quieter after a nice coating of carbon on them.

How does that not sound more metallic to you? Have the bullets made you deaf? Like I said my buddy tim99ws6 swapped them out and you heard the sound clip. Camera and mic differences obviously sound different but yours are close, unless your sound clip isn't conveying something.

If you dont like the XR1s I'll buy them off of you. Sounds like you're wanting something like some Sweet Thunders. Bullets are loud as hell, XR1s are loud but tuned, seems like you want a middle ground leaning towards loud as hell. Sweet Thunders might be right up your alley.

Dont get me wrong I like the way they sound but hey arent as metallic sounding as I thouht they would be. Believe me when I say they dont sound like your friends car but I think I know why, my cam is really small for my motor size and his isnt. I think if I switched cams it would have more of the sound Im looking for. And I do think the bullets have made me deaf Its just going to take some adjusting to actually being able to talk/hear in my car.

**EDIT**

I just saw you guys were from Nashville. Id like to meet sometime and let you hear it and hear your friends so we can compare.

Bullets sound like *** and the XR1's rock. I made that swap.

I currently run dual Magnaflows.

At idle it is very tame and when drving around its not too bad, nowhere near as bad as bullets. At WOT it gets pretty loud though.

YES, the xr-1's do get LOUDER, but not much. More noticable when at idle when it does get louder. I would know

As far as them feeling faster, some people here in AZ actually pick up a few ponies going from bullets to xr-1's....so idk man, anything is possible
