Default Fluctuating temp

I was on the way home from JUST picking up my car. The temp was higher than normal. I get into my town, temp gets higher. Pull over, temp gets lower. Fans have been on the whole time ( they won't shut off). Lots of coolant comes out overflow. On way home, coolant was around 200`. I get closer to home, it's 235`.

I already have a 160 therm. This started after i put my ac back in, but both air dams are hooked up.

I think my waterpump is going and this might be a good excuse for a new one? How do i flush out the block when i replace my current pump?

Iron block 408CI ls1.

The only thing that really goes wrong with a water pump is the seal/bearings go out and cause a leak. It should still pump as good as ever. I'd check the opening of the thermo in boiling water to make sure it's not stuck but it sounds more like your cooling system may not be adequate for your engine. Make sure your radiator and a/c coils aren't full of bugs and junk.

Need to make sure you do not have a air pocket.
