Default Anybody wanna guess where 100 hp went?

....It seems to coincide with the install of an FTPRA(Fast Toys ram air)..
It seemed the better I sealed it,the slower the car went...As far as SOTP could tell me..Then,I confirmed it at my last excursion to the track at Gainsville,FL...The car was ripping off stellar 13.5/106 trap speeds(the fastest) to 14.1's at 99(the slowest)...
This is a heads/ cam car that has gone 12.7's/112 in similar(hot & humid) conditions earlier this summer...
I can drive just fine...I've made 100+ passses in my life...so...There is something wrong with the car...I does not use oil....it does not over heat...it revs free of mis-fires all the way to red line....It is just SLOW.
See mod list below..

Did you forget to hook something back up after installing the FTRA? Maybe the IAT or MAF?

Take the FTRA back off and go back to the track, see if the car goes back to normal.

Perhaps the FTRA leaned it out and now you are getting some knock retard?

Need to know whether it has raised ECTs (which will
pull timing), IATs (shouldn't be raised, but can still
heat soak while sitting at idle, check). The idle ECT
may well run higher than before due to shrouding of
the rad, hurting natural convection and requiring the
fans to run, which doesn't happen (stock) until some
pretty high temps.

Get logged.

Weather can make a HUGE difference in how a N/A car performs. There is a little more to tracking it than just saying it was "hot & humid"

Tuning. Check your timing and a/f ratio. Something's wrong.

Also, if it isn't your driving, why the huge difference in trap speeds (106 vs. 99) on the same day? Did you miss a gear?

The only "driving error" if you don't mis shift is the launch (i.e. traction), but this won't change your trap speed.

Well...Thats the thing, they were both clean passes..
The car actually stopped accelerating for a moment in 3rd gear on the 99 mph trap speed run.
I want to emphasize this is a H/C car that has put down 400 rwhp a few months ago..This car has felt like slug ever since I installed the FTPRA...Which is not what I expected it to do..
I had bone-stock '02 convertible C5's pulling me...& my buddies '01 Mustang GT auto within spitting distance of my back bumper..
I understand about weather playing a role in how much power an engine makes....But 6-12 MPH?
8/10th to over one full second?
I'm going to have get the car logged.
Or I can just throw a new MAF at it & see what happens..

Another vote on weather. Can be off 5 tenths or more on a hot day.

Are you sure your not having a detonation problem? When was the last time you check the plugs?

I agree with you that something is wrong.. just don't think the FTRA is the blame.

I hear no audible detonation..( I did in the old motor).
The timing was set at NLP(sponsor on this board) to be fairly conservative...& I have the luxury of 93 octane at the pump...Unlike you So Cal peeps.
It does indeed feel like the car is pulling timing,though...
Me theory is that the FTRA & the old GMS MAF(no screen) don't like each other.
I was wondering if any other FTRA users had encountered such a problem before.
The only problem I have with disabling the FTRA is the fact that I went to such great lengths to seal it...If I use the supplied block-off plate, the car wont be able to breath..
I sealed the lower air box so well that it could actually hold water...
More to follow..

I did back to back testing at the track with FTRA/without it/and with it again and got almost .1sec and 1 mph improvement with it (and this was the old style FTRA compared to my stock SS hood induction). It is very easy to switch back and forth by just installing the block-off plate and removing the seal from the front of the airbox (something you may not be able to do if you glued it in).

You can get that kind of performance variation due to a fairly significant weather difference (like 30-40 degrees) but weather that you think is similar is probably not enough. I don't know what your problem is but I don't see it being the FTRA.
