Default Which poly mounts do i need?

hey all, i have the TSP catted Y on my pacesetters and they Y tucks very nicely, but i have some slight banging under the drivers seat. heres how it is. when the car is in neutral and i rev it to the moon, it never bangs, but when its in gear, thats when ti bangs. i am almost 99% sure i need poly trans and torque arm mounts, but do i need the motor mounts also if its not banging when not in gear?

you need the motor mounts. Thunder Racing has them for a good price ---->

You might try the tranny and torque mounts first and see if that helps. When I did the ES poly tranny/torque arm mounts, my y-pipe stopped banging completely. This works for some people and not for others. The tranny/torque arm mounts are gonna be WAY easier to do than motor mounts. Motor mounts are a good idea though. I'll probably do them when I get motivated enough. My engine shakes alot more after heads and cam, so I know motor mounts would be in order.

Yeah, probably as hard as changing muffler bearings.

If you want to go totally cheap and easy
just pry down on the pipe with pry bar where it is banging
and wedge in fuel line hose3/8 dia. It stopped
my banging completely.

The only problem I have with this is, is that it is a band-aid fix and doesn't solve what may be the root of the problem. The stock tranny bushings tend to wear out fairly fast, and if his is worn he will still have trouble with the tranny flexing placing stress on the drivetrain, seals, etc. With any sort of miles on these cars, the motor mount, tranny, torque arm, sway bars, etc. all need to have their bushings replaced.

A poly driver's side motor mount will cure your banging Y-pipe. While you're at it, replacing the tranny and torque arm mounts are a nice addition as your '98 will probably have them all chewed up. Your engine will no longer shake as much, your shifter will stop moving all over the place, and your Y-pipe will stop banging the floor board. I also will say that the motor mount is one tough bitch.

Nevermind the comment about your car being a '98, I was looking at Redneck Z's sig.

I don't think anyone can actually explain that one. Just climb under there and see what all you have to do. Then do it

Despite the PITA, it was hands down one the best mods I've done so far. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
