Default Coated vs Non Coated Headers?...

I'm looking at putting some new headers on my '05 GTO. Some people swear by high quality non coated (T 304) stainless steel headers and others like ceramic or titanium coated pipes.

From my understanding coated helps to reduce heat, but can be susceptible to internal rusting. Are non coated stainless steel headers going to produce a boat load more heat over factory pipes?

Additionally, will headers without a muffler or exhaust tip change going to change the sound, or is that primarily a function of the of those two previously mentioned components?

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thx.

yes headers will produce alot more heat over factory in your engine, coated headers would be a wise idea. also if you run without a muffler then your car will be louder for sure.

A ceramic coating will be applied to both sides of the pipes. There is no risk of internal rusting and coated pipes will last much longer then bare carbon steel.

Stainless itself radiates less heat than a mild steel equivalent, but it can be coated too for even cooler operation

headers wont make a notable sound change, thats usually from a muffler change. the best would be coated stainless steel, will probably never rust, and will keep temps down.

Stainless > coated. I wish I had gone that route the first time.

Have any of you heard of MTI headers?
