Question where to buy a catch can

I was told Home Depot had them but my local one doesnt..neither does Lowes. I dont want to spend the dough on an AMW catch can, just a plain air compressor catch can would work, anyone know where to get one??

go to Depo and buy a piece of plastic PVc pipe in 2.5 inch diameter. Buy some brass hose fittings, a rubber 2.5 inch removable top and plastic cap and some small diameter black gas hose and some small clamps and you are done....

the whole thing is less than 30 bucks... and you can customize it to the size you need.... much better than a store bought catch can... i painted mine black...

Default Found one

To update, I didnt find one at any of the mentioned places so I got to looking online. There are tons of catch cans out there ranging from $20 - $230 from what I saw. So what I found was a Campbell Hausfeld oil catch can for air compressors Part# MP5138. It was $10.35 plus $7 shipping and paid $1 for some new pcv hose from Auto Zone. Spent less than $19 for a catch can setup. Just waiting on it to get here in a couple days to test it out. It might look a little funny in the engine bay but it will be nice since you can visually check if it needs to be emptied or not and it drains out the bottom by a screw so no real mess. Here is the part, if you do a search for that part number on that site you can pull up the price and/or purchase it. Link to catch can

that one looks too small; it can only hold a few onces of oil. You need some volume to control the PCV vacuum. ....like 2.5 inches wide and 8 inches high is good... that size will hold about 1/4 cup and will reduce some vacuum into the intake...

I went to Wal-Mart and got a Cambell Hausfeld mini general purpose filter Model number MP513801. I think it is the same as you have. It is not too small and absolutly does not reduce vacum as long as you remove the filter inside. A tip for you, remove the white filter inside. Cut it off the diverter it is attached to and reattach the finned diverter inside. It catches much more oil this way and does not restrict vacum. After about 150 miles I have caught aproximatly 1 cap full of oil.
