Cut-out

Here is the picture of mine, it is just a manual cut out and it is located in the i-pipe before the piping bends over the axle to my hooker cat back. Just a single cut-out to bypass the muffler sounds very good and mean. not too loud of an idle but very old school muscle sounding at wot. hope it helps.

thanks, did u get any gains from adding it over your catback. i heard you get the most power out of a cutout when its right before the muffler?? or is that just bull

I'd say i did gain some power, just hard to notice sometimes. Nothing too extreme but the sound is definitly worth the bucks. The most power you would gain from cut-outs is probably putting two of them in a y-pipe after some LT's. its the closest thing to straight headers. Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

Yeah i doubt you'd get much of a gain HP wise. There is probably more of a gain over the stock catback than an aftermarket one, and even then you would probably get the most power through a tune which isnt worth it for just the minimal hp gain you'll get. And it still wouldnt be that much. Dual in the ypipe is probably the best flow and power you can get from cutouts.

It was welded on at a shop before i got the car. So i couldn't give you an estimate. The cut-outs themselves are cheap. 35/40 bucks and you'll be set. QTP's are good. I've hear the dmh ones aren't very good though.

Pic isn't the best, but my son and I installed ours using a band saw to cut the I pipe and stainless steel bandclamps. It's a ceramic coated Street Pro.

The Street Pro, because of it's design fits better in the cavity just ahead of the passenger side tire, than the Quicktime (I have both).

A turn down will keep the exhaust from blasting against the underside of the floorpan or the cavity as it will with the Quick Time because of the Street Pros straight back design compared to the QT which shoots off at an angle.
