Default Cats and performance

There is a good chance I will be moving to a state that is far less inspection friendly than where I am at now, and am thinking about what it will take to get the T/A to pass inspection. I was thinking about this combo:
AFR 205 heads with 63cc chambers - would end up about 10.5:1 compression
Stock 2001 manifolds and cats feeding the Hooker catback
224º / .581" / 114º / +4º cam

I would hope to make 400/385 at the wheels or better, but am not sure how much the cats are going to choke it. The motor is a typical 347.

What kinda inspection is it? Visual? Sniffer? OBDII? OBDII can be passed pretty easily with none of the emissions devices in tact...sniffer can be done with cats stuck on any type of header/manifold, visual is a bitch.

OBDII and visial. I was told they put a mirror under every car. I think the FLP's w/o cats and 231/237 cam are going to be a problem.

Technically, they could fail your car every time unless you have your manifolds/cats on there. See if you can find a place that is "cool" about it...other than that, sorry.

look up your local laws. i passed the mirror test with just cats and no other emissions devices installed. the tech even looked under the hood and didnt say a word about the blocked off emissions hookups.

I would post up in the appropriate Regional section and see what others in that area have.

Very hard to get over 400 rwhp on stock manifolds and cats and still be emissions compliant. To do it, you'll need more compression from the AFRs and a more emissions friendly/manifolds & cats friendly camshaft. Something like the Thunder Racing CheaTR.

I made 411 rwhp through stock manifolds and cats with this cam, but I spent a bundle doing it.
