Called the Free Ram Air mod, or FRA.

Most here seem to like it!

You'll definitely get more air with the FRA, your filter will get alot dirtier faster too. When I did mine I just cut it with a hacksaw blade.

Inside the lid sometimes people cut back the
"baffles" looking for airflow. But a lot of the problem
is in the resonator neck and the stock lid should just
be replaced. The lower airbox is cut for "FRA" but it
does not actually ram any air and along with dirt
and water, tends to let you breathe hot radiator air
while idling and this will heat soak your IAT and pull
timing (only to come back down later, once you
have done accelerating, thanks, great).

Wouldn't this only be a substantial problem with prolonged periods of idling? I wouldn't think a 30 second stoplight would cause you to pull timing.

Sitting in the staging lanes also.............
(If you push it then you might not have a problem)
I did the mod but didnt cut the radiator shroad (sp) all to pieces and I noticed a difference.

When you stop moving the radiator starts wafting
hot air upward. How long it takes to thoroughly
warm up the inlet, I guess you'd have to watch the
scanner. I know this was a major heater for my SLP
CAI.
