Borla vs. GMMG
I was going to be looking into buying an exhaust as Im throwing it up between these 2. I heard the Borla system on a 00 T/A WS6 and I have heard various clips of the GMMG (which sounds pretty good) but I havent heard it in person. What do u guys think sounds better. From loudness to good tone and deep rumble. If these exhaust dont have any of those qualities PLEASE point me in the right direction.

I was in the same situation as you, except I had not heard either one in person. I went with the GMMG, kinda from what I'd heard from LS1sounds.com and from what the masses were saying here. I have not for one split second regreted my choice that was my very first mod. GMMG is AWESOME!! While I cannot say what the Borla sounds like, the GMMG is top notch. I have it on stock manifolds and cats. Here is a vid ---> http://video.ls1tech.com/Player.aspx...9-63DE9D6086DE
It has a LOT more bass when driving. The clips I have don't do the bass justice.
Hopefully someone can provide you with a good Borla clip.
But since the title of the thread is "Borla vs. GMMG", my vote is GMMG.

My brothern has a Borla on his SS and I have the GMMG and we both agree that the GMMG is the better sounding of the two. GMMG all the way.

GMMG hands down

i had a gmmg setup till i wen H/C and ORY it was just to loud and drew way to much attention from the wrong people
borla sounds good but can get raspy and have some drone however it is adjustable

GMMG has a clean, MUSCLE CAR tone. An open Borla sounds well...Like an a UPS truck to me, lol. OK, the Borla doesn't sound that bad (it is very distinctive; good or bad). However, for a very deep, yet refined rumble that sounds healthy all the way to redline, there is no comparison (GMMG all the way!). And the GMMG is one of the few aftermarket systems that actually sounds good with the addition of headers/highflow cats + engine work. Whereas the Borla sounds pretty bad with headers IMO (gets very raspy & high-pitched too).
Some of those clips on LS1sounds.com sound close (just like that guy who posted one of the GMMG on his otherwise stock LS1 Formula in this thread). But NOTHING gives a true indication of how good it really sounds in person.
Mike
P.S. Even though I usually prefer the LT1 sound over any LS1, I'd actually take my LS1 w/ GMMG + LT headers (highflow cats) over many LT1's out there if that tells you how good I think this set-up sounds...

I have GMMG and it sounds great. It took me forever to save up the money though. My Dad and Unckes even like how my car sounds and their into old school muscle cars with flows. I first wanted TDs dumped with spiral flows but I was afraid the car would be too loud inside for daily driving. I want to headers next but I'm not sure if I should go with a catted y or a ory.

For what it's worth, I have borla (open plate) TR 224/224 114 cam (makes all the difference for sound on these cars), Pacesetters and a TSP catted Y. It sounds incredible! I couldn't be happier. I haven't heard GMMG in person though. I agree that you won't be disappointed with either.
If u plan on using cats, I'd say Borla because it's a wide open system. If you don't plan on using cats, I'd say go with GMMG.
Btw...with the borla you can put a QTP electronic cutout on it and have it adjustable with the flip of a switch inside ur car. https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/378727-borla-guys-here-mpp.html

I've heard both. The Borla is adjustable because you can change the plate in it for a customizeable sound. I'm not sure what the dude had it set on, he didn't even know you could change it but it sounded good and tough. It has a a nice deep burble to it. The GMMG that I heard sounded really good too. Dude had the oval tips on it. To me the GMMG is a bit more bassy and the Borla is a bit nastier. I should probably add that the dudes GMMG looked like it was falling apart too. One tip hung alot lower than the other. Honestly, neither one really impressed me enough to go out and sell my Magnaflow for the other. Other people told me that mine sounded better than the Borla. The Magnaflow is half the price of the others and stainless. Just throwing that out there.
Also, you can use an electric (or manual) cutout with any system out there.
