Default Odd Air Conditioning Problem

Installed new compressor and accumulator about 3 weeks ago. Pulled vacuum over night, tested for leaks, everything was 100% tip top, charged her up, and had ice cold air. About a week later, she doesn't blow cold under 10mph. between 10 and 35 mph the air starts to cool, but not really well. 35+ no problem I have cold, not ice cold, but cold air.

When I did the initial charge, low side pressure was 35psi with the compressor running. Just checked it again, 35psi.

Any ideas?

I would look at the condensor and see if anything is in front of it or if it has any damage. The faster you go the more air gets through your condensor. It sounds like the efficiency of yours has gone downhill.

just checked, nothing blocking the conensor, no obvious damage.

Almost seems to me it's getting heat soaked from the radiator

MY 95 started to do the same thing. I found the space between the rad & condenser packed with debre.
I removed the rad & cleaned it all out including the fins on both the rad & cond & it has work like new ever since.
Good Luck

just checked between the condensor and radiator - nada. I'm sitting here with the bird running right now, both cooling fans are on and there is more than adequate air flow across the condensor. It's cool to the touch as well.

Any other ideas?

Are you getting good airflow out of your vents?
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Suspect bad actuator valve as I can switch to fresh air setting for a few minutes and get good air delivery then switch back to AC and it blows fine.
Also I have a black car and it's hell to cool after sitting in the sun a while, since brand new.

did u buy a rebuilt compressor? also the oil level u put into the compressor is very important. It has to be just right.

how do you check the oil level?

It's not getting cold at all today, fortunately, it wasn't that hot afterwork.

well when dealing with the ac compressor u have to be very exact with eveything. U check the oil level by pull all the old oil out of the old compressor and measuring that and then taking out what is still left in the system. There is some weird way to do it but u measure how much oil u pull out then u put the exact amount back in.

What does your high side pressure look like?

hm... what a pita. I really hated taking the AC out when I did the motor build. It was the only thing that worked great on the car at the time.

I'll post up the hi/low side pressures later tonight or tomorrow.
