Yes, headers will make your car louder. I would suggest buying some longtube headers and an off-road y-pipe made by the same company so that everything fits right. Read JRP's Mod Guide sticky at the top of this forum. There is some good information about headers in there.

I have a Magnaflow catback. Sound stock was just a little louder at idle then the stock system, then at highway speeds it could get pretty loud at wot. Added FLP LT headers and sound was louder and wot was really loud. Took off the high flow cats and was alomst annoying it was so loud, could hear me a 1/2 mile away and when I went wot it sounded like nascar. I added a 3400 stall and made the car so loud since I have to bring up the rpms more to make it move, I decided to put the cats back on. Now it sounds prefect, louder at idle, prefect when driving normal and sounds mean at wot.

I only have shortie headers which didn't make it much louder at all, maybe just a tiny bit, but after putting in a cam it became ridiculous. I also added hi-flo cats and a y-pipe at the same time as the headers. I'm in the process of installing a quieter cat back now.
