Default rebuilding a belt tensioner

I have concluded that my stock GM belt tensioner is a source of annoying sqeeking.

Can you rebuilt these? I assume the cause is a worn bushing on the tensioner where the pulley bolt rides.

I replaced the pulley a couple of years ago and the sqeeking stoped for a while - now it is back, however.

Can I just push out the old bushing and replace it?

The Kateck belt tensioner at $130 claims is a last resort.

What about the spring inside the tensoner; can this be removed and can the spring replaced or bent to add more tension?

well since you should already making pretty decent power with your setup I'd just loose the stock tensioner and get the kartech one. Even if you could rebuild the tensioner and get more tension out of it I don't think it will help. imo.. the problem with the stocker is the way the tnesioner springs back and forth loosening and tightening itself with the engine torque. heck just start the car and watch the tensioner at idle. you can see it bouncing back and forth.

ohhh.. also if you have not replaced the AC belt that might be where the squeaking is comming from as well.

I'm replacing the stock tensioner and going with the Katech tensioner. I loose too many belts.

This is the best option!! They are a little expensive but it will be the last one you need to buy. We have a few on the shelf if anyone is looking!!
