Default Does GM cover this?

The SES light came on in my car and I had it scanned at a local mechanic. The code was catalytic converter efficiency. What i was wondering is if GM has some kind of warranty on emissions stuff. My mechanic mentioned something about a 5 year 50,000 mile warrantly on emissions stuff or an 8 year 80,000 mile warranty. Is there any truth to this. Any help is appreciated.

If the cats went bad they are covered up to 80,000 miles.

I had a cat replaced under warranty. My car only had 45k miles at the time. The cats are covered for 80k

O2 sensors are part of emissions equipment.

If it's an O2 sensor, they won't replace that, but chances are they'll replace the cats. Just take it to the dealership and have them scan the code and see what they say.

It's super easy to replace. The only thing it'll hurt is usually mileage. I think some people say though that the computer will sometimes pull timing if the O2 code is thrown. I don't know if that's true or not though.
