exhaust sound
kinda not real happy with the way my car sounds. it almost reminds me of an old truck with glass packs. it just sounds kinda loose until i get to upper rpm's. have headers and a y-pipe installed. starting to thing my cheap flow-tech headers are to blame. i went as far as running just a 3.5" bullet and a single outlet but it still sounds loose. any ideas would be appreciated.

So you are running the headers to a Y-pipe through a bullet muffler and dumping through a single turndown? Maybe try going over the axels with a catback or an X-pipe with two turn downs.

actually i have the bullet in the I pipe and a single exhaust on the drivers side of the car. its like i have no back pressure at all. bottom end suffers a little. but mid to top end power is sweet.

Thats probably your problem then. With cats it should quite down if everything is bolted up tight and there are no exhaust leaks from a bad weld on the headers or if the cat-back isnt completely clamped down/welded on tight. A lot of people complain about rasp with no cats and longtubes, hell I have a lot of rasp from my set-up, which now has gutted cats. Its all preference, if your looking for a nice mellow tone then get like a magnaflow or hooker muffler welded into the rear section of your system and that should quiet it down because the bullet muffler probably isnt doing much to get rid of the rasp. Hope that helps and let us know if you get the problem resolved.
