Default Will i need to tune after my 160 stat swap?

I recently purchased a 160 degree stat from SLP and i'm ready to swap it out. I know how to install it and all but afterwards, will i need to tune? I don't have a hypertech or any type of tuning program and i really don't feel like paying $300+ for one either right now. Will the thermostat not take effect if i don't tune it or will the tuning merely effect the fan? Thanks.

Without changing your fan settings, the stat won't do anything to keep coolant temps lower unless you are cruising at a steady speed for a while (like on the expressway). In stop and go traffic, you will see no real change in temps till you adjust the fans.

If you don't want to get tuning for the fans you could get a fan switch. SLP used to sell those, not sure if they still do though....

Yep, it's got a setting for both low speed and high speed fan operation.
