Default LT install problems/ steering shaft

just installed TTS power sys. LTs.

one of my primary tubes is contacting the steering

shaft is grinding

shaft it feels like I have no power steering & I feel the
motor vibrations though the
steering wheel I'm thinking I have to remove the header and dent
the tube.

or is it easier and OK to remove the steering shaft and grind it down a bit?

I hate to take that dam header off it was the hard side.

Thanks for any helpfull advice

If your engine were about 1/4" higher straight up, would the contact still occur?

Exactly, that's what I was getting at.

Would be a shame to have to bend a primary on a brand new set of LT's.

I had the same problem under hard acceleration with Mac headers.I shaved of about 1/16 in where the y joint meets the connector. But be very careful if you do it not to take off too much metal off .I haven't had anymore problems thought. But down the road it could start again if the motor mounts sag due to hard acceloration.

Yes I think if the motor where 1/4 higher this would cure the problem.
are you saying my motor mouts are sagging? or add a spacer?

I hate to ding the tube.

Hate to remove the header also

I'm thinking of heating up the primary and using a pry bar.

Thanks guy's for infor.

^ Try new motor mounts (yours may need replacing) before bending the primary.

99WS6 / 71K miles do you think the orginal mounts are sagging?

can the mounts be visualy inspected?

when I needed a trans mount I pryed up on the trans and saw that the trans mount was torn a little?

earlier you said would the motor be raised a 1/4" be the solution the answer is yes

where you going to suggest spacing up the motor ?

Thanks

I've seen quite a few posts here with motor mounts which needed replacing before 100K. Spacers? Don't know about that. Just giving you a heads up on the motor mounts.

I'd just get some poly motor mounts. They're not to expensive and if you can tackle headers the mounts wont be so bad.Too bad you didnt have the mounts before you put the headers back in.I did both sides in 3-4 hours by myself. That was pulling alt./ac out of the way.

I had the same problem. I loosened the bolts that hold the steering column to the firewall, moved the steering column away from the primary tube and re-tightened the bolts. Fixed the problem.
