Cat Selection
I've narrowed my catalytic converter options to two different cats for my new Ypipe setup I'm putting on my car in 2 months.
1. Random Technology 7000 Series, Metal Matrix Bullet Cat. Flows 598cfm
~$215 each
2. Pypes High Flow Mini Cat. Stainless Steel. Flows 450cfm
~$70 each
I've looked all around and these two are the highest flowing cats I've found out there that have the short compact design I'm wanting. The question is, is it worth the extra 300$ for the RT's to get the extra 148cfm on each cat. Obviously the RT's outflow the Pypes, but w/ an engine the size of an LS1 (stock headed, w/ a cam) is the extra flow necessary?
TIA

Tahoe converters ... hmm I'll have to look into those.

Random Technology make 4 different types of CAT and many different sizes of each, all flow differently. So although they said X make won, just check what it was up against.

AIR only runs for the first 20 seconds or so after start up, and helps promote the chemical reaction in the CATS. But if you're trying to build a system to pass emissions it may be worth checking that to see if AIR is required or not.

My AIR is deleted ... i have run a catted Y before w/o the AIR ... it just doesn't heat them up as fast as w/ the AIR. Both of the CATs will be directly on the header collector so I don't think they could heat up any faster period. Emissions testing isn't a worry, where I am its just OBDII testing for readiness codes. I'm just looking for something that flows really good, but that'll get rid of the 'no cats smell'
I think I'll probly wind up getting the metral matrix 7000 series just so that there is NO doubt in my mind how well they flow. Money really isn't a constraint here.
