Default March Pulley installation

Anyone on here ever have to machine their March UD pulley to fit correctly? My car has a Rollmaster double roller timing chain and when I torqued the pulley to 240 ft/lbs the engine would not turn over. Do I absolutey have to get it machined or has anyone on here gotten away with seating the pulley with a smaller torque value. If it does have to be machined anyone know how much has to be taken off?

11) I installed a double roller timing chain and it seems my ASP underdrive pulley is interfering with the oil pump. Is this right?
Yes, in some circumstances (especially when using a corvette ASP pulley), the ASP pulley will need to be machined for clearance when using a double roller timing chain. The picture below illustrates the machining required.

I had to have mine done too with the same timing chain. Cost me $50 from the shop putting the motor together.

Thanks for the input everyone. Instead of taking it off and getting it machined like I should have I just backed the pulley off less than a pubic hair (around 30* with the puller) and torqued down the bolt to 60 ft/lbs (instead of the 40 ft/lbs then 180*). So far everything looks good, the belts ride the pullies in the same area as the stock pulley and belts did. I have not taken the car past 3000RPM (because of the head and cam swap) but I am pretty positive that the pulley will hold just fine. I figure I can give it a shot and the worse thing that can happen is that I shread a belt. Someones got to be brave.

Never had to machine mine. Went on perfectly with a DR timing set and spaced pump.
