Default Need help, want to change AC tensioner on 02 ZO6

Dealer wants $400 parts/labor to swap the tensioner, the tensioner itself is $90. I want to change it myself and wanted to know if anyone has done this on a C5 vette and how to go about getting it done. I hear it needs to be done from the bottom, but from the top it looks like I couldnt even get my hands in there as the crossmember/leafspring and power steering rack are in the way. Looks like it would be difficult from the top too. Any suggestions? What tools, and torque? Thanks in advance.

It's an easy swap. If you have basic knowledge of hand tools you can do it yourself.

You might find www.ls1howto.com helpful.

Yes howto is a great site, but unfortunately no write up on swapping the AC tensioner on a C5. I can see the tensioner, and its pretty obvious how to get at it from the top. So I guess Im gonna tackle this without any advice and see how it goes.
