Default Non-Oiling Air Filters to replace K&N?

Hey everyone, just wondering what other air filters are out there that replace K&N's that can be cleaned but do not need to be oiled? I have an oversized one that came with my Suncoast Creations ram air system and its a big panel filter and even being very careful with the oil for it I still manager to get some on MAF (cleaned it, oiled it, and let it dry for a few days and still some got on there). What would be a good alternative? Thanks!

You are over oiling the K&N. It only takes a trace amount for it to work properly. Other choices are paper filters. Don't know if an Air Hog requires oiling, but, it is supposed to be a high flow filter.

just use OEM paper filters. they have been proven to supply enough air for 500bhp n/a, they have the best filtering capabilities of any type. And remember filtering is the filters main job.

Also a replacement filter costs less than a k&n cleaning kit and often paper filters need replacing less frequently than oiled cotton (k&n) needs cleaning.

True but im not sure if they make a paper filter for my application. The air system I have now is a huge panel filter, its about twice the size of the factory stock air filter and is ducted to the hood to make it an actual ram air system (although power gains are minimal it looks good when the hood is open haha). I guess ill just have to check out my local parts store and see what they have.

In my experience the Air Hog doesnt flow anywhere near a K&N. I have a Granatelli Motor Sport filter on my 99 Z28, they dont require re-oiling and its a K&N style (I killed my MAF from cleaning it too many times) 1-888-600-9011

I'm guessing you have the older corvette/ram air TA filter. That thing is huge. I believe the fram # is CA7007. If you have a # on the old filter, it can be cross referenced.

Just because it can supply enuff air for 500 hp doesn't mean it does it effeciently.
I switched a BRAND NEW stock filter for a BRAND NEW K&N on the dyno and gained 7 rwhp. and that was standing still (i have a custom ram air set up that kicks ***).

I have NEVER in all the years of using the oiled type filters had a problem with getting oil on the MAF. I don't see how people so easily over-oil them.

I also have the Suncoast set-up. I believe the filter it uses is the same as the ZR-1 Covette. Hope this helps.
