Default One cat gutted?

My friend has a kooks catted y-pipe and one of the cats decided to destroy itself. The guts of the cats came loose and it rattled around inside which was very annoying. Kooks said there was no way that the cat manufacturer would replace the cat (even though it was only 2 months old). Needless to say we broke the internals of the one cat out so now it is a straight shot through.

QUESTION: Will gutting one cat and leaving the other cat in tact screw anything up?

THanks

In the short term, you should be fine. You're not doing the engine any favors with one side flowing better than the other. Just my $0.02

Go ahead and gut the other one, take your car somewhere where they can tune your computer and have the rear O2's "tuned out" - then you just remove your rear O2's - problem solved. When you install long tube headers you have no rear O2's anyway - and no problems running with LT's. The SES light will stay on unitl you tune it out however.....and you will have trouble passing inspection if you have to pass emissions tests.
I have JH long tubes, no cats and no rear O2's - got my computer tuned and no problem, passed the computer tested inspection a month ago.....
Thanks - stevet
