Default Who has used the stock MAF with FAST 90/90?

I got my stocker de-screened and semi ported. The air divider is still there but all edges are smoothed out or sharpened. I read somewhere on here the stock MAF outflows the stock TB, So Im thinking my stock MAF can hang with the 90/90. I dont want any tuning issues that come with the 85mm MAF sometimes. Does anyone have numbers with the stock MAF and 90/90 before and after? Thanks.

After: FAST 90/TPIS 90 > 457/424 NA, no other changes.

I'm running the SLP 85mm MAF, but I honestly dont think it's worth it. I believe jason dyno tested his car with 85mm lid/maf and picked up like 1.5rwhp over the 78mm stuff.....and that could be dyno error. You'll be fine with your stock maf.

I would go SD. That's the way I went, and I love every second of it. My MAF is now in the trunk of my car and will be keeping some other junk company in a landfill as soon as I get around to throwing it away. If you really want to keep it, at least make sure it's recalibrated. I guarantee it's off now.

I will be getting it tuned soon, no doubt. Just got back from a test drive and the car is really liking the new air.

Just to let people know, the "SLP" sticker on my SLP 85mm MAF fell off yesterday when I was cleaning under my hood and "Delphi" is stamped under it.

Yes, and it has a different table in the PCM vs. yours. However with a program like HPTuners you can cut and paste the table from one car to another. I'm 99% sure Tony drives a vette so his car would come with that MAF.

PACE sells a modded 85mm Z06 MAF that is ready for the LS1 table in the f-bods. I'm using it on my H/C car. And will probably keep it when I get the Mamofied FAST 90/90.

If I had the cash, I would go dyno again with the stock MAF to compare for us all. Maybe in the spring.

Once you go heads/cam/FAST 90/90, the MAF becomes the choke point of the intake tract. I gained 28 rwhp by swapping from the LS6 intake/ported TB/ stock MAF to the Mamo ported FAST with NW 90 and SLP 85mm MAF. The SLP MAF flows quite a bit more than the stock MAF, but even with it I was pulling 2-3 KPa of vacuum at WOT. By going SD tuning and removing the 85mm MAF, my vacuum is now only 1-2 KPa and I've picked up another 5 rwhp. At my hp level, I feel that going from a stock MAF to no MAF (replaced by a 4" pipe) is worth at least 10 rwhp.

It would seem that 99% of the guys that swapped MAF's and made any verifiable power have been M6 cars. What are the A4 guys like myself supposed to do?

I will have my new forged short block in 3-4 weeks, and I have my "Mamo-improved" parts sitting here waiting to be installed. In the back of my mind, I've been trying to decide what to do... buy an aftermarket 85mm MAF? Use descreened stock ends? Or stay with the stock screened ends that I have had success with? Basically, this is the last "bolt on" I can buy, and am not convinced it is worth the money. I don't have anyone in this area I can take my car to for an SD tune, so that is definately out the window.

Patrick G - I have been following all the threads about your current car since you started swapping parts. You've had great results thus far and I appreciate you posting all the write ups & graphs.

I myself would like to see that too, but in his shoes... I wouldn't want to break my 10 bolt just to prove a point. I imagine if someone wanted to "donate" a 12 bolt to him, he'd be all for throwing on a set of slicks and giving it hell.

I still would like to know about a larger MAF on an A4 car w/ full bolts + H/C/I.

I'll most likely pedal it down the 1/4 mile at the SW Shootout, but don't look for stellar 60' times. I need this 10 bolt to last a little while longer.

10 bolts are $200 to $300 all day long.

This is THE post I have been looking for. Do you have a graph that shows the gains of the 90/90 over the LS6/LS1 ported TB?
