Default Hesitation/Studdering, Any ideas? UPDATE* Need help =/

Heres an update to what is happening, its copy and pasted from another site I posted on so here goes.

I have a real bad hesitation when my car is under a load. At first I thought it might be a fuel problem but after I changed the fuel filter its just as bad. It ranges from 1200 up to 4-5000 rpms. If I floor it though it seems to run fine. I checked to see if any of the valve springs are broken, but all are intact. When the car hesitates the rpms jump a little and if I mash the gas it backfire and sounds damn near like a gunshot.(Uncle Buck style) The feeling is almost like when you are fishing and have a fish on the hook, if you can imagine that, thats the best way I can describe it. Any suggestions on my problem?

Things that may be wrong (so i hear)
1. Fuel Filter (That wasnt it)
2. Fuel Pump
3. Plugs and or wires (I have had bad plugs and wires and it NEVER felt like this does, plus these are no more than 6 months old)
4. Timing off (No clue how it would get "off")
5. Bad Coil Pack
6. Cracked Head (if it is I will burn the car)

Any of that seem valid to you? If so which one and if not whats your opinions? Thanks to anyone and everyone with any sort of imput. I REALLY need this car fixed. If I cant fix it, I am just going to sell it and take a big loss

What mods have you done? Have you worked on anything recently?

I have a TR224 cam, LT's, exhaust, cutout, lid, most of the basics. The last time I worked on it, minus new plugs and wires was July last year when I replaced the valves. Since then its ran fine. I also replaced the clutch in September. Otherwise nothing much. It just started doing this on Sunday night.

I'd say your going in the right direction to repalce the fuel filter.

Cripplefightin,

I had something very similar happen. Hestation between 2k and to 6k. I replaced the fuel filter, plugs, wires. None of which helped. Then it through a code. Got the code read and it pointed me to the crank position sensor. Car ran like a champ afterwards. Good thing is it is cheap and easy fix.
