Question ??? Y-Pipe to Headers: How do they connect?

My Pacesetters just arrived the other day but my Y-Pipe has not yet and there doesnt seem to be a collector on the end of the headers or none in the box either. So how does the Y-pipe secure to the end of the headers? I dont have my Y-pipe here yet to check it out but I am trying to get a leg up so I can go to work when it arrives. Do I need to weld anything or buy collectors?

You'll need some 3 inch band clamps

There is no collector? Just 4 primary tubes?
-if so, sounds like someone had a bad Monday @ pacesetters. Get a RA# from whomever you bought them from and send them back.

Get band clamps to connect them. Do NOT use a u-bolt(even if they send it in the kit) as this will crimp the y-pipe and collector and taking them back apart is next to imposible.

The band clamps will cost a tad more and are well worth it. Check sponsers for them or NAPA usaully has 3" ones on the shelf.

You could also weld a flange onto it. That would make it easy to take on and off.

What is the best way? Band clamps or Welding a flange? I guess I should just wait to see when the Y-pipe arrives. I guess I just assumed that they would be like headers of old with the hook-up where you bolt flange to flange and have a gasket between. Is the band clamp a good leak proof way to go?

I think so, I use them too with Stainless Works headers. I used the flat NAPA one's that conform to fit as you tighten down. Don't be afraid to close the gap, use a breaker bar if necessary. Leak proof, recommend RTV that is O2 friendly too.
