Default True Dual ???

This is my current set-up.....It is a 2.5" system. I have heard that a 3" system is needed for maximum performance. My question is that I want to change out the bullet mufflers for magnaflows or sweet thunders (don't know which). Should I just get a 3" system and then replace the mufflers or should I just use this system and replace the mufflers? There are only a couple of places where there have been crush bends in this system. What do you guys think? All help is greatly appreciated....thanks

John

Not bad. Are you running off of stock cats? The hanger setup looks a little iffy(especially if your using the seatbelt mounts, bad idea), but overall - not bad.

Sweet thunders are not the best flowing ones out there...the sweet thunders really have a 2.5" opening so its going to take a few hp from you. May want to check out the spiral flows.

But yeah I would definitely step it up to a 3" system.

3" is going to leave you room for improvement down the road, and shouldn't cost you much power, if any, now.

Yeah I would, cause the 2.5" is restrictive...not a lot you know, but it is.

I've had both 2.5" and 3" X and H and really didn't notice any difference except sound, however this is on a stock internal motor. Best sounding setup was 3" X pipe & Sweet Thunder mufflers. I'll run sweet thunders again when I run another TD setup..

My last TD setup was 2.5" X pipe and Flo Pro twisters (my 2nd favorite setup) and seemed to perform as well as the 3". I'm not sure you need 3" unless you are pushing some serious HP but don't quote me on that

Lane,

This mounts with rubber bushings to where the tunnel brace would mount.....I dont think it is at all that bad.....So do you feel that the current X system and the fact that it is a 2.5" system would justify the need to go for a 3" system....thanks
