Default Underdrive Pulley

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the 150+$ on a U/D pulley is really worth it, can you feel a big difference? what kind of times can it take off your quarter, and what does it do on a dyno

I didn't notice any SOP difference. It does look nicer than the stock piece.

you'll gain about 5-10rwhp from it. I'd get it if you plan on doing a cam swap, or looking to get the most HP out of your car from just bolt ons.

Not hi-jackin your thread, but what brands of these underdrive pulleys are you guys using to get the good HP gains? I have also been debating on buying one

SLP here. I wouldn't think there would be any difference in gain on 25% U/D regardless of brand. I chose SLP because of the high walls on the pulley, haven't thrown a belt yet.

ASP here. I agree with all whom mention getting through the RPM's faster. Can also say that it is lighter than the stock pulley & smaller in diameter. Worth it.

It tends not to show up on a dyno, but it is consistantly worth at least 0.10 in the 1320.

I went with the Powerbond underdrive pulley when my cam was installed. The Powerbond is the same pulley that SLP uses, but it's cheaper. The Powerbonds are nicer than the ASP pulleys in my opinion. Underdrive pulleys are usually worth 5-10 rwhp on the dyno, and definately worth the money when you're trying to squeeze every bit of horsepower out of the car.

Don't take me the wrong way, but that doesn't make much sense. If it doesn't show up on a dyno, meaning you don't make any more power, than you won't go any faster. From my experience they are worth 5-10 rwhp and about a tenth and around 1 mph in trap speed. If you have a manual tranny, which has a factory idle of 800 rpm, a 25% underdrive cranky pulley will not effect anything negatively. Now if you have an auto, which has a factory idle of 550 I believe, you may run into charging issues. I say go for it.

Not true. Only have to modify the pulley if you go with a double timing chain.
