a lid will be fine. Or there are CAI kits, take a look at the sponsors ----> and see what's available.
BTW - have you already added the LS6 intake manifold? As they weren't available until 2001.

little confused on your question, exactly which part of the intake are you asking about?
If you already have a WS6 intake setup then get an aftermarket lid. Anyone will pretty much do the trick its more your preference.
Dont worry about a MAF for now till your pushing lots of horsepower the stock one can handle plenty.
Then theres a smooth bellows, not really worth 50 bucks for it BUT if you look around enough you can find people selling them pretty cheap usually. For example i bought mine on ebay sometime ago for about 15.00 bucks brand new. If you find that kind of a deal why not go for it.
Next is a throttle body, good to get not as necessary until get plenty of other mods. Cheapest route is porting the stock one but there are also BBK(80mm and a new 85mm) and FAST(90mm has problems) and Nick Williams(best 90mm).
then theres the intake manifold. If i read your question correctly you said you already have a ZO6 intake (which would be aftermarket on a 98) If you have that then your good otherwise id say get one. Theres also a fast intake which are the best but quite expensive.

The lid is what you want to change out. The WS6 induction is a good setup, minus the factory lid/silencer. All you need to do is get a lid and you'll be in good shape. You can find them pretty cheap in the "Parts for Sale" section as well.

so you have a ls6 intake, ported throttle body, and longtubes. I don't see why you wouldn't already have a lid on the car. what does the air box look like, is it all black, and have a sticker on it that says somthing like ponitic ws6 etc. just can't understand why someone would do all the other work and not do the easiest and best bang for the buck mod. the stock air box has baffles to the sides as well. if you can post a pic we could definatly help you out or explain the air box.
if you don't have a new air box you definatly need one, with your set up you could pick up quite a few ponies. also get a new filter, K&N, holley powershot are common. all aftermarket lids are about the same, so just shop around for the cheapest that fits your needs. do you have the egr valve or not with the intake?
