Question stock t-stat temp

what temp does it run at on the stock gauge. my car runs at a hair below the line between 160 and 210. is it stock or ???????????????



p.s. if it is stock whats the best one to get?

The 98s have the accurate gauges as I see yours is a 98! I put a hypertech 160 in mine!There pretty good they make a 180 but its what you what to run I guess!

But yeah the 98s with a 160 run at about 160 so yours probably still has the stock thermostat!If its been tuned they may have the fans coming on earlyer to!

Question relpy to my post

well the fans come on at a hair past 210 but the car runs at the line between 160-210 so i was thinking it has a 180 but im not shure?
im stumped lol.

any ideas??????

the gauges are not known for there accuracy. the stock t stat is 195.

Ummm don't think it runs quite that low. I got a 99 with a 160 t-stat and it runs around 170-175ish.

Stock ran 194F for me, real tight. Hype-tech 160
runs me 175-179 depending on load. The radiator
is more challenged to support that lower temp.
The stock 'stat is something like a 185F rating
so buying a 180 aftermarket one is about as big
a waste of money as there is (except maybe that
Vortex thingy).

Whay you really want, is just to get your fans to
run at low enough temps that the stock 'stat
has some authority behind it. Then you will have
a consistent and fast-responding temperature
control.

That's my meathod. Stock stat, custom fan settings. Keeps the temps cycling in the 194-204 range or so. Works great for me.

Stock thermostat is marked 86C which is 187F.
