Default Do ported throttle bodies really add power & torque or just increased response?

I'm wondering if a ported throttle body really adds a worthwhile amount of power and torque, or just feels more responsive due to the porting causing increased overall throttle body opening sooner when depressing the gas pedal. I have been told that on a well-tuned car, power increases are in the very minimal range (approx. 2hp). Guess that doesn't seem worth the bother to me. Maybe torque increases are greater...don't know.
Does anyone have any documented proof that it actually helps to a worthwhile degree? If so, I'd like to get mine done. Any thoughts, comments or before/after dyno sheets more than welcome. Thanks!
Ed

There are several dyno graphs and personal testimonials out there. They can help add about 5-10+ rwhp, depending on your setup.

You'll see on average an 8 rwhp gain from getting your stock throttle body ported, and will notice a nice improvement in throttle response. Here is link with a dyno graph that shows how much was gained on my friend Eric's stock 1998 Formula just from installing a Bo White ported/polished stock TB.

yeah in the tbs I have ported I have found that porting the housing usually nets about 7-9rwhp. on a bolton/cammed car. However, I also have found that putting epoxy on the IAC hole does not do much. so now I just port the housings on all the tbs I do. PM me if you need someone to do it cheap.

It's definitely a mod that's worth getting done. Plus, it's relatively cheap!

Agreed. Just got a great BoWhite TB and it really helps. The real difference is in the response. Everything just seems smoother now. As an added bonus it adds a distintive deeper tone to your exhaust.

I noticed a nice difference when I installed the ported TB.
