Default Y-pipe touching

I have pacesetter headers and a TSP y-pipe. The y-pipe is hitting on the cross member. Has anyone just removed it, or am I the only one that can't get it to fit right? G

yeah the TSP y pipes are known for "banging" underneath the car. Just work with it

I got it to stop hitting the floor under the driver. Now the cross member is the only part it's hitting on.

Are you talking about the tranny crossmember or the tunnel brace? You can remove the runnel brace, but do not attempt to remove the transmission crossmember.

I threw my tunnel brace away. But anyways my final fix was to put poly motor mounts in. I tried repositioning the y pieces but it got hard to twist them after the second or so attempt. I tried ovaling the pipe some in the area with no luck. I found that I would loose to much ground clearance to stop the banging so that is why I went with the motor mounts.

Poly motors mounts = the ****.

If its hitting the tunnel brace, take that bitch off and chunk it. If its hitting the tranny crossmember, you need to beat/bash the pipe and adjust the system some more. 90% of the time, the pipes just need to be tweaked a little bit more

the merge of the y-pipe is laying on the tunnel brace. I got the y-pipe to go around the tranny brace. It kind of seems to sage at the y merger.

Take it apart and adjust it would be my guess.

A possible easy fix is maby a poly trans mount. It has a bit of vibration to it, but it either goes away or grows on you, at least i dont hear it anymore. Less simple fix would be poly motor mounts, even though it would take alot more to put them in.

My tunnel brace was banging too, so I used some longer bolts and 3/4" worth of washers for spacing. Still bangs!! So that causes Knock in the engine? Does the engine see that and back off HP?

Yes when the engine sees knock it backs off!
Throw the tunnel brace in the trash to get the y pipe from hitting the floor board you can tack a used valve spring between the y and the floor board where it hits!
