Default Catch Can? YES OR NO ???

How many of you are running catch cans?

Other than price, are there any downsides?

Thanks

There are no downsides to running a catch-can. It will keep oil from the PCV from getting into your intake. There are cheaper catch-cans on E-Bay compared to the AMW. I'm using the AMW catch-can, and it works great. Looks good too.

I will run one when I can justify spending the cash for it.

30 bucks shipped on ebay. hard not to justify it at that price. You'll want to buy some 3/8ths oil line though

if that much oil is coming out, then y would u want a catch can? u could have **** rings or bad valve seats. this is a serious problem for longevity and i would not recomend solving it with an oil catch can.

I voted no, because I do not have one on my current LS1. I used to have one on my WS6 but it did nothing to reduce my oil useage on that car so I removed it to reduce engine bay clutter.

My Camaro uses no oil at all, and has no major oil deposits in the intake, so I can't see the point in a catch can for it.

Your poll needs to include "No, but getting one" and "No, not getting one"

I have a greddy ebay catchan, search threads i've started to see install pics of it. The sight glass has some discoloration on the inside, but no noticable oil level rising yet. I may bust that baby open tomorrow and check the inside.

No downsides whatsoever. I have an AMW one and it's a nice piece of work. I'm glad I bought mine over a year ago when they were still $80 bucks. On my Camaro I would get a few table spoons or so of oil every 1000 miles. It's now on my vette and it collects less oil, but it still works great.

I'm not sure how well the cheapy eBay ones work though. I don't think there is any mesh to help separate the oil from the air like in the AMW.

I keep checking mine periodically, and no oil issues whatsoever w/58K on the car.
Dry as a bone! Guess that is a good indicator! Yeah, I heard they went ballistic on price increases.....$80.00 (1-1/2 year ago)

I consider it a safety net, rather than a necessity!

I have read about these enough to know "why" ?

I would prefer a little extra oil in the cylinder as long as there is no detrimental effect on performance.

90% of engine wear occurs during startup. If there is a little extra oil in the cylinder it sounds good to me!!
