Do a search. I've written one in a couple different threads. Also people have done quick write ups. But it will take 2 people.

I heard someone say that after poly motor mounts they began to experience false knock signals. Anyone else experienced that? Was that a fluke, or is this a legitimate issue to watch out for?

Not saying that it couldn't happen, it just hasn't happened to me. Worth all the work it took to get them in.

I would imagine that the opposite is true, any false knock coming from a banging exhaust pipe would be remedied after the poly motor mounts are installed.

Do a search or sift through a couple pages. I just made a fairly decent in depth post on monday or tuesday since I finished up installing them last weekend. It really wasn't that bad, and you don't need 2 people - I did it all myself.

Would the job be significantly easier with the transmission out? I'm doing my clutch in the next few weeks and if it will save me tons of aggravation to do motor mounts then I will.

If you are going to do the job on jack stands, its more of an aggravation than hard. As long as you do one at a time, may be easier.

drivers side you need to move the alternator out of the way, the higher you get the car up the better. Passenger side you need to move ac out of the way, if you have ac. Not extremely tough job, but can be a nuisance on you back under a not very high off the gound car. 49.99 at thunder only replaced drivers side, very happy with results. No more banging of anything..headers, y pipe, anything.

Is it better to do both sides poly, or poly drivers side and new rubber mount on the passengers side? I've heard some say the latter is preferable.

Well I only did the one and left the other alone and all is fine. I suppose you would pick up more vibration by doing both poly, but I dont know. If your gonna replace it, why not go poly. I honestly dont feel engine vibe from my one poly mount.
