Power steering just went to hell

Power steering just went to hell Cruising back from Lowes and I was coming around a bend when out of nowhere my power steering decided to lock up and stop working. WTF. I'm ready to drive this thing into a river somewhere I am getting so feed up with it. Driving home the last 2 miles was PURE HELL. Have to use both arms like crazy just to get the wheel to turn. It's def. gotta be the power steering pump right? Car has 67k miles on it.
