Default painting hearders

hey guys, i got a set of pacesetter lt's for free recently. they are coated, or stainless. i want them to last, and they already have a little bit of corrosion on them. what can i do to keep them from continuing to corrode? is there a paint that actually works?? can i have them ceramic coated? i dont know if you can do that after the fact.. any suggestions?? thanks guys.

Listen, just be glad you gott hem free and put them on the way they are or sell them and buy new ones.

Here is the deal. You pay 200 bucks or whatever to have them jet hot coated and they will still get some surface rust on them after some time.

You can probably get 250-300 for them if they are in good shape and then put that 200 - 300 you were gonna spend to get them coated and then you will have enough to get some stainless headers.

I always use Barbaque paint. Its good to 1200 degrees and doesnt burn off like regular hightemp paint. Most harware stores, even walmart carries it in their paint department.
Ive used on any black header I've ever owned.

Yeah, i used this on my exhaust. I still have some, but i dindt know if it would stick to the jethot coating, or if it would neutralize the rust.

I'm not sure if it would stick either. If the headers are already pretty bad you could wet sand them with 400 grit. Then spray them and see if it holds up.Thats what I'd do.

how many coats of bbq paint do you guys think would be sufficient to keep the rust from returning? granted the scrapes on the bottom are going to rust, but you could always do a little touch up if needed there.

Use vht header paint its good to 1500 degrees. You can get it at any parts store. After almost two months of daily driving my headers still look like the day i painted them!!

I put some header paint on my FLP's that are ceramic coated. It did'nt hold up. It peeled right off. I even sanded it. I think the coating would need to be sanded all the way off!
