Default Dropping Engine out of C5

Have a couple of questions about dropping the engine out of a C5 Corvette:
1. Is it necessary to drop the transverse leaf spring? The technical service manual says you should when dropping the engine out of the bottom of the car.
2. A/C compressor… Is it possible to remove the engine without removing the A/C compressor? There are rigid lines from the firewall to the back of the pump. Not sure if I can maneuver the engine to clear the pump.

Any other tips/tricks are most appreciated. Thanks.

you do not need to remove the leaf spring, when you drop the cradle it will go with it, just unbolt the a/c compressor from the block, and lay it to the side.

Thanks. I did not see the need to remove the spring but wanted to make sure there was not some valid reason to remove it.
