!AIR Question
Just a quick question (also posted in the exhaust section, just here becuase of the traffic, answer nedded for tommorrow Thurs. morning install).
I am finally getting my Kooks installed, and I am taking my AIR off (the headers are race style with no AIR). I missplaced the block off plates I was going to use to cap off the stock manifolds untill the headers get put on. I know this will thow a code but will the car be ok to not have block off plate for the drive over to my exhaust shop? (we are talking maybe 8 miles).
P.S. I didn't find anything with the search...

you could also probably make a very simple cheap block off plate by just cutting a sqaure out of some metal and putting two holes in it. that would hold till you get the headers on

You want the plates so you don't have two little
blowtorches under the hood. Straight exhaust gas,
plenty toasty. Probably burn the paint off in a few
minutes (let alone what it's do to a plastic SS hood).
I got a pair from some sponsor or other, just bits of
1/8" aluminum flat stock, set you back a couple of
bucks, tops, at Home Depot. For "good enough" you
could probably even get by without the gaskets.

thanx for the info, I kinda thought about the "blowtorch" effect but was hoping the close distance to the shop would be ok. I am going to rig something up for the 8 mile drive...1/8" aluminum stock sounds good...thanx again jimmyblue.

There not sensors, they're check valves and metal air tubes that connect to the air pump from the stock manifolds. I am paying someone to do my header install and dual exhaust but was trying to do most of the stuff myself (I usually do everything on my own). I was planning on getting the system out of the way to make install faster (i.e. save me some cash) but didn't think it through. So they will stay on untill the headers get put on tommorrow and after I will rip it out.
Thanx again guys, multiple thinkers are better than me going to quick and screwing something up, like my hood!
