Default header bolts, and tsp bolts

did you guys buy new manifold bolts when you installed your LT's, or did you just reuse your old ones? if you bought new ones, where did you buy them from and which ones? also, i know that you have to drill holes to install the tsp true duals for the hangers. what size bolts did you use and how did you guys go about installing the hangers? Thanks!

I have personally reused the factory bolts on three different longtube installs with no problems.

I recommend cleaning the threads with a wire brush and then applying anti-seize, this makes them thread in sooo smooth and is just a good precaustionary measure.

That's pretty much all you need to know right there....exactly what I've done with 3 lt installs as well.

I hear the header bolts were upgraded in 00', and the 98' and 99' ones are not good ones to re-use. I went with the split locks. You could just get some ARP bolts for pretty cheap.

I re-used my stock header bolts and used anit-seize, they have never backed out either.

I think this thread will be very helpful to you concerning the true duals

I reused mine, but 2 on the drivers side would not go all the way in, they would get super tight about half way in, looked like they were crossthreading but I tried each several times and still no go, so I shimmed them with washers once they tightened.

Never heard that before. The stock bolts on my '98 camaro and my buddy's '00 TA are exactly the same. We both have re-used the stockers with zero problems......little anti-seize and you're good to go.

I reused my stock bolts on all three sets of headers that I have had over the last 5X,000 miles.

Stock bolts with anti-sease for the headers-heads connection.

For mounting the TSP duals, this is what i did, and i suggest you do to.

Put a jack under the DUMPS and jack them up as high as possible. I went and got two 3/8" bolts about 1-1/2" long along with 4 3/8" FENDER WASHERS. The fender washers are HUGE and will NOT pull through the floor, you can find them at most hardware stores listed as "fender washers". They only have a 3/8" hole, but they are probably 1-1/2" in diameter. I pulled my carpet back a little, drilled the holes, put 1 washer on each bolt and slipped them through from the inside. Then i put the hangers on, put the other washer on, then put on a 3/8" NYLOCK nut.

I would suggest you messing with them for a WHILE getting them riding high. Check the link in my sig. After the pics of the duals run out the back, there is some pics of the system when it was still dumped. The bullets are running parallel to the ground and i have great clearance. I had to bash in the driverside bullet to get it riding inside the tranny tunnel, as well as flip the fuel line brackets for a little more clearance.

I would suggest putting on a set of poly motor mounts which aren't too hard with the exhaust out. This will stop your exhaust banging the floor problems before they even start. You can get them for $50 from thunder racing.
