Default Catback

Has anyone installed a catback to stock manifold and y-pipe? How easy was it to do?

i did a borla install on my SS along time ago and w/ me and my friend helping we got it done in about 1 hr. Not to bad for my first ever install. Not to hard, just have a hacksaw(or something similar) ready to cut the stock pipe over the axle. That was the easiest way from what i remember. The supplied instructions should help a bit to but IMHO you should get all the slip on clamped sections welded on whatever exhaust you choose since most just come w/ dumb clamps. Do a search and you should find some easy pointers like maybe in JRPs mod sticky up top of this forum. Hope that helps.

its pretty simple, just bolting up pipes.
I hd an electric saw to cut the stocker off that worked great.
A lift will help you alot btw, but on stand it wont be a problem, might take a little longer.

Jack up the car (or use ramps) Sawzall to remove the stock cat back, another 10 mins to remove the rest, 20 mins to install the new, clamp it up, make sure the tips are straight, about as easy as falling off a log

I took a reciporcating blade to mine and then directly connected the loudmouth setup to it a few years back. Since has really changed.

Very simple.

1. Get car in air slightly (at least the rear of it)
2. Use reciprocating saw (or some other kind) to cut off stock exhaust at the over-axle pipe.
3. Unbolt it from the end of the Y-pipe.
4. Take exhaust from hangers underneath bumper
5. Assemble new catback under car.
6. Bolt up new catback loosely, then adjust the tips where you want them.
7. Check for any parts that may bang or touch the car (basically assure clearance) and tighten it all up.
8. You're done. Fire her up and listen to her purr.

If it's a standard catback for an ls1 f body you won't need anything else other than what comes in the box
