Default pacesetter nightmare!

i installed my pacesetters yesterday by myself and it was a pain in the *** gettin the stock manifolds off one of my head bolts towards the back didnt go in all the way but i couldnt see it so i kept torquin and i look back there when it got really tight and its still a 1/4 inch out???? i may have to tap the head what do yall think, it sounds terrible

Yea, sounds like you'll have to tap that hole, maybe even helicoil it if it's bad enough. It's always a rear bolt for some reason..can't be up front where you can get to it easier.

you can reach the rear ones better, when you have air and all that CRAP i love the way it sounds its just that you can hear the poppy header leak, i didnt think one bolt would make a difference. considering there is 1 on 1 side of it a 2 on the other.

Or you can take the bolt back out and put washers on it so they press in on the header when the bolt is in a s far as you had it before....thats what a kid aroud here did and He says it worked, I saw the bolt half way out with washers on it but he has no leaks. Depends how fast of a quick fix you want.

thats what i did this mornin i still hear a wierd sounding leak i think it may be the AIR tube?

I just finished helping a friend install hooker longtubes. We ran into the same problem, and used a few washers under the bolt. This worked great and there are no leaks.

Same thing here. Just use some washers and you will be fine.
