Unhappy ford buddy havin 2nd thoughts bout Long tube install...

Well just what the title says...
he's my best friend and said he was gonna help me with my long tube header, ory and cat-back install...but 2 days ago he put put an orh on his 1997 Cobra and was bitchin on how rusty it is and how hard it was to get the stock H pipe off. I told him its also a fact that his car is almost 10 years old(its got 83K miles) and mines an 2002 that just turned 40K last friday....
What i'm trying to say is, do u think my bolts and header bolts are gonna be all rusted to hell so bad that he'll be afrad to work on it? The car only had been through 1 winter(this one) I mean christ it can't be that bad under there. hes my only friend who has tools and jacks to accomplish this task friday night, i don't have any tools for a job like this and I'm not payin $450+ at a shop to put them in... Do u think it'll be as bad as he's thinkin or not? What was your guys time like getting the stock stuff off?
sorry for the long boring post, but he kinda got my hopes up a lil bit bout teh headers going in...i've been waiting since december to get them in and now i have everything to finally do it.

thanx guys please shead some hope on this matter.

thats what i said! like someone else said before....the heads and bolts are made of two different types of metals to prevent seizing(i think)...i told him the hardest(and longest part) is getting the old **** off and the rest is stright forward.

it shouldn't be bad at all.i attempted th remove the stock catback on a 98 mustang and i failed miserably, the bolts were rusted bad and even with a 2 foot cheater bar i couldn't get them to budge.i put headers and ory on a 01 and didn't have to use a cheater bar so it should be straight forward without any hastles.

hint: go to Autozone and pick up a can of "PB Blaster" (yellow can, looks like something from the 70's) spray the stuff on all the bolts you will need to remove at least a few hours before, preferably the night before. I used this method and had NO problems pulling the manifolds off a 95 Trans Am (although almost every Y-pipe bolt broke off, no biggie though)

dont sweat it, taking **** off is the easy part...the header bolts should be easy, the ypipe bolts, just get a big pry bar on the wrench and break the bolts if you have to, your not gonna reuse it anyway.

It was very easy on my 02 model and previous 01 model. My buddies 00 model that had always sat outside and been in the weather was a bit more of a pain in the *** though...but we got it done as well, just took a little longer.

Tell your friend that he is just being lazy and looking for an excuse not to help you. Good luck man!

FWIW I did mine (02) and the bolts came off easily, even the y pipe bolts came off without breaking (it's a DD so I was surprised it came apart so easily)
Tell your friend to quit being a ford wuss, and get after it

When I did my header install it actually made it easier to break the bolts rather than undo them all the way. I think I broke 5 out of the 6 on the cats!

BrianCWS6 and I did my car, it took us a lil while cause I broke a few bolts and also found that I needed a motor mount nut....It was crazy....LMAO ut we got my headers in, drove the car roughly 15 miles from his house to the shop that put on the rest of my exhaust......It was a beautiful sound.....Nothing but open headers....It was great!

some headers just got installed on my car last night. swapping the parts out took about 4 hours, then we spent another hour extending my o2 sensors. but i had excellent help, and the help is what makes the job.

1st and foremost, remove the coil packs.

removing stock **** is always a PITA, but you have to pay to play. all my cat bolts snapped so that was easy. header bolts were cake.
