Default poly motor mounts your opinion?

ok i have the usual Y pipe bang and im thinking of goin with poly motor mounts or the prothane(are they the same thing) but im nervous because in my old mazda turbo i did them and afterwards i could make a coin dance on the dashboard how stiff it made it. is that the case with these mounts how much more than stock do u feel it with poly/prothane mounts and is there a diffrence in prothane and poly or is that just a name for them? it is my daily and i like a smooth ride and nice exhaust i also plan on doin a 224 112 or 114 lsa cam and i dont wanna shake the car like crazy

Neither of your choices. Yes the car vibrates more with my cam, yes it will stop the Y from banging, no I do not notice the vibrating now like I did when they were first installed, and yes the work is worth it.

I noticed a little more vibration in my buddies car after he installed motor mounts. I couldn't see how it would bother anyone though. Personally, I like the vibration.....it feels like a V8!

Prothane is the brand, polyurothane is the material that the mounts are made of.

What I've noticed with my poly mounts is that the whole car shakes more but there is less vibration's. The shifter barely moves (did move quite a bit). It's a very good mod, but I wouldn't do it with the headers on and the motor in the car. I may try if the headers were off and the motor was in the car but I don't know.

I did mine with the motor in the car and the headers installed. Really isn't as bad as people say, just takes a little time.

I also have the prothanes and didn't really notice any more vibration until I installed a poly tranny mount. I ended up removing the poly tranny mount.

I just went with the prothane mounts... I can feel the cam EVERYWHERE in the car. Shakes the back glass and all, cam is pretty large though. I also installed them before the motor went in the car, not sure how hard in the car???

So you went from no cammage, to poly mounts the cam? You can't really blame the poly mounts if you haven't felt it without them!

I recommend poly mounts to everyone. The only complaint I have is they raise the engine maby 1/4-3/8", but it's no big deal.

If you do feel a vibration, you will forget about it/get used to it in about 100 miles. My poly tranny mount vibrated pretty bad at first, then it either went away (doubt it), or I stopped noticing.

I did run the cam without the poly mounts - there was ALOT less vibration, but I haven't driven the car enough to get past it yet

I had cam and heads with stock motor mounts, enging shook like crazy. I then had a 383stroker motor built with a bigger cam and went with Prothane mounts....engine sits perfectly still. As for vibration, it's like using a poly trans mount...makes you get more in tune with the feel of the car IMO.

I have poly mounts ready to go in as soon as my engine is done...then I'll contribute to the poll.
