There are only about a billion threads on this but YEA pacesetters are the best headers for a LS1 unless you want to spend big bux on stainless steel headers

On that note would I be able to buy a y-pipe and high flow cats with no install problems or should I buy the catted y-pipe from pace setter also

Dont take the sarcasm seriously were all here for the same reason to learn, TSP makes a catted Y pipe that fits really well and flows good, I dont believe that Pacesetters makes a catted Y pipe

I have heard that the Pacesetter Y-pipe is crappy(not sure on how true this is) and that people have gone with the TSP y-pipe instead. Just do a search and every question you have will be answered.

The Y won't be coated, at least mine wasn't, you can probably get it coated if you really want it, but it should be fine uncoated
Pacesetters are good headers, they fit fine make good power, and (so far) look good

No im not really interested in them being coated since they are going to be under the car. I just want to make sure I can get my car inspected when need be. The funny thing is TSP sells the combo for 700 but if you buy the parts seperate its cheaper cats are 83 a piece, headers 275 and y pipe 120.

Hate to tell you this, but if you live somewhere they do a visual inspection, LTs are illegal anyway (they change the location of the cats is why) tho it is possible to get by with them usually if you have the cats no ones cares, but on the chance you get some a hole inspector they could fail you

To answer the question about the pacesetter y being crappy, I dont quite agree with this, but I will say its not "optimal" it has small crushes on the drivers side Y to allow for better clearance, it does help but I dont think they are necessary.

I wouldnt consider this a reason to not buy them as the crush is pretty negligible
