Default RESULTS: Homemade Camaro Ram Air Pics...

Here is my version of the Camaro Ram Air through the grill mod. Going to Silver Dollar Fri night to see what gains it gives me. Previous best is 12.77 at 110 at Commerce.

I used a cutting board believe it or not. It is a cheap poly one at walmart. Cut the holes and pressed fit the 45 degree bends into it. I attached the front hoses with a 6" to 4" reducer. Plugged the 4" hose into the 4" part. The 6" part fit around the bumper holes where the gills are in the grill. Then I had to trim out a lot of foam to get the whole assembly to fit like stock but it has pressure against it from the bumper so there was no need to tape/glue/screw it into place.

Looks good. Did you put 2 coned air filters on the bottom of the hoses?

I thought about doing that. However I believe it would still be able to pick up hot air from the radiator/AC condenser. I am using a holley filter that fits perfectly in the stock location.

Nice job. Do you have any pics of the hose going into the grill? I'm doing that to mine also.

Thanks man...which tubes are you referring to? The white inside the air box? If so I didn't bother painting that part cause it will be covered by the air filter. Everything on the outside is black.

Haven't tested just yet...still have to find a new place for the tranny cooler. I don't know if I will see any "ram" effect but my goal here is to reduce my IAT's, which were seeing as high as 150 degrees in the staging lanes from the stupid FRA mod.

I am seriously impressed with BOTH set-ups. The timing is perfect for me- I just put a "Wings West" grill on my SS, with the big holes in it. It's perfect for this type set-up, and I was concerned about cutting through the styrofoam (thickness, etc.). Was it easy to drill/cut through? You guys made the rest look easy! I'm pretty sure there will be a noticeable gain, especially at speed.

Cool grill! I like that one. The foam isn't hard to cut through but it's a little awkward to get to a few places that need to be trimmed. I found that a steak knife worked the best, although I used a combination of a steak knife, drill, and dremel tool to modify the foam. I am hoping my track times will tell the story of any gains!

So can I keep the A/C and not have to cut up anything, or are there other "adjustments" that it needs?

You can for sure keep your A/C. I still have mine and everything fits perfect. Keeping A/C means you will have to be very precise with your dimensions or something might not fit right. You will have to cut up a fair amount of metal. Now, this metal is not seen once assembly is finished. However, if you are concernced at all with cutting on a $20,000+ car this mod might not work for you. Major cutting adjustments are cutting the lower air box support and cutting bigger holes in the front bumper support behind the foam.

It looks like at highway speeds it will be really helpful and with a grill covering the holes in the front it would look great. Nice job, let us know how it helps out in the 1/4

Thanks man! I agree that at highway speeds and on the big end it should really shine. At idle however, it should also keep me from sucking up hot air from the radiator.
