Default headers on problems shifting into reverse

ok guys i paid a local shop to put my new headers on early this week when i got it i drove it around that day mabey a couple of hours then that night tried to put it in reverse and it was EXTREMELY difficult to put in reverse , no wierd sounds no grinding, just 10X harder to put in reverse and its a difference in trying to put it in sixth while at a stand still but not while moving. I took it back the next day the guy checked it out and said he could find nothing wrong and he thought that that was just the way it was? is it possibly that they f'd something up,(they said they had to jack the motor up on the passenger side to get the headers in) anyone have any clues PLEASE help i dont know if they did it or what (sorry for the long post)

I don't know. I have an a4 , maybe you can put it up on rhino ramps and see
if anything is binding the shift linkage.

When I reinstalled my engine I had a hard time getting it in reverse, There is a rubber boot under the leather cover. might want to take the middle consol out and look at the rubber boot.

See if your ENG SEN fuse is blown - controls the reverse lockout and 02. If it is look at your 02 sensor wiring and make sure nothings burnt from contact with the headers.

With SLPs make sure the #6 plug wire stays well clear of the header too - buddy of mine found his arcing after a while.

What all did you take off during the install? if you removed any parts check around those areas and make sure that something isnt pinched between any mating surfaces. SLP's are probably the worst to install out of any header out there too.

There's other things on that circuit - MAF, skip shift, brake switch - still think it's most likely a burnt 02 wire.

maybe they disconnected the clutch line and got air in system. or maybe they stretched the he** out of the clutch line. you could try pumping the clutch a few times before you put it reverse or push up in reverse and hold it there without forcing it too much than turn off the engine, if it goes in smooth it may something in the hydrolics

Did you fix it, by changing the fuse?

well last night i checked again and no burnt wires, but i did throw a code-p0102 which is mass air flow sensor cicuit low input, i guess the fuse that keeps blowing and the code go hand in hand, should i just get a new MAF and that should fix both probs? also stated that this sen controls skip shift.... i did install a skipshift eliminator about a week before headers were put on that shouldnt make any probs would it?

Since you're blowing the fuse immediately when you turn the car on I'd try disconnecting everything on that circuit, then connect them back one by one to identify which item it is.

I just installed some Dynotech headers today. I noticed my cluch pipe does come close to the headers. When the cluch fliud gets warm, it is like Brake fade, it becomes less effective. Reverese is usually the hearder gear to get into, pressing the cluch pedal a little further. Perhaps this pipe is close, your fluid is getting warm. I tucked mine a little further under the heat shield.

You can also wrap some fuel line around the braided clutch line to protect some heat. I sat in line waiting for a ferry one day and my clutch cluid cooked itself. Took of the reservior cap and it was black.

ENG SEN - Mass Air Flow, Heated Oxygen Sensor, Skip Shift Solenoid, Reverse Lockout Solenoid, Brake Switch. Also make sure you didn't plug your skipshift eliminator into your reverse lockout connection on the trans - don't know if it'll throw the fuse but it's a common mistake.

if i did that (plug ssE into lockout) would the skip shift still engage because i still throw the light that say skip shift but it doesnt engage so that seems to be working properly
