Default Louder than expected

Hello all!

I'm a recent owner of a ls1 trans am (as of this morning!) The car came with LT headers, y-pipe, and SLP loudmouth, and WOW, is that loud. Perhaps I'm getting too old, but the drone at 75mph is giving me a head ache already!

Suggestions for daily driver with quiet 70mph+ and so I don't have to budget $200 a month for noise violation tickets?

I'm looking for a nice smooth muscle car growl.
:o)

Try and find someone to trade for a hooker catback, they're milder.

Try the hooker cat back, or the slp dual dual, those are supposed to be the quietest catbacks
Or you could use a stock muffler, and a cutout, then you can have loud or quiet (with an electric cutout) at the flip of a switch
And congrats on the purchase

Hooker is the way to go, under 2500 RPMs my car sounds VERY tame, barely noticable, 2500-3500 it started getting quite a bit more noticable, after that it sounds like a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's substituting either a borla xr1 (borlamouth), or a dynomax bullet(dynomouth) for the resonater of the SLP loudmouth

Anyone know how those compare to each other, and any idea of install effort? (Any online install directions?)

I think a complete catback might be out of my immediate budget, vs maybe just replacing the resonator with something?

Anyone know part # or the borla and dynomax? I checked out ls1sounds.com, but was't alot of samples for those setups, any opinions on borla vs dynomax? Borla is obviously more expensive.

What? SLP dual dual one of the quietest? I think not, plus SLP is what he said he has on it now.

He said Loudmouth (probably one of the loudest catbacks)
I've listened to the dual dual, and it wasn't much louder than stock @ idle (at least to me)

slp dual dual is pretty quiet. just because they r both made by slp doesn't mean they are going to sound like eachother.

It's pretty simple, cut out the loudmouth resonator, and have the other muffler welded in its place
BTW the TSP rumbler catback is basically a dynomouth, and on mine it's loud, but definately not as loud as the loudmouth, so far I haven't had any complaints from the neighbors, or bitching from the police about the noise, it has some drone at 70mph, but turning up the radio drowns it out
Try listening to the rumbler catback on ls1sounds

If you do not have cats a catted y-pipe will quiet it down quite a bit.

yes, just choose a muffler of your liking on LS1SOUNDS, and put it in place of your LM resonator/muffler.

I say borla with an electric cut out in the place of the plates. I love it. Stupidly loud when it needs to be, and capped off when needed.
